Social Care Book Club

Bought to you by your hosts George Coxon and Jane Brightman

November 2021 – our pick of the month is the wonderful When I grow up I want to be a carer by Jenni Mack. It’s no coincidence that we’ve picked this just before Christmas, we think every child should receive this in their stocking from Santa.

The book is a joy to read, yes even as an adult and beautifully illustrated. It’s journey to publication is also a showcase of collaboration across the social care sector with huge support from the CareTech Foundation, Scottish Care, Impact Arts and the amazing Morten from Sekoia.

We recommend you follow Jenni Mack, now Marketing Exec at the Care Workers Charity on Twitter.

In a world where you can be anything, be kind and be a carer!

October 2021 – our pick of the month is The book about getting older by Dr Lucy Pollock. This is a must read for anyone with an interest in social care, personal or professional.

The book is beautifully written, thought provoking and will make you chuckle (maybe even shed a tear but that’s only human right?).

There is even a chapter featuring our very own George!

We recommend you follow Dr Lucy Pollock on Twitter.
